Halo Infinite will release on December 8, and while some users have early access to a physical copy, they are unable to play the game.
This was initially reported by Digital Foundry’s John Linneman, who confirmed that the physical discs of Halo Infinite do not include the game. Before you can play the game, you must first download the campaign files from the Xbox Live servers, which is currently not feasible.
The campaign will not be available until December 8, therefore anyone who has had an early copy of the game for a few days will be unable to play it. Furthermore, if you bought a physical copy but are unable to download the campaign files or do not have access to the internet, you are sitting on a useless physical disc.
Normally, this is not a big deal, but in this case, it can be a problem because there is no pre-load accessible for Halo Infinite’s campaign. This might potentially result in a rush of players attempting to download the game on the day the pre-load becomes live. Because both physical and digital owners must download the campaign files, this can create poor download speeds as the servers are being bombarded.
On December 8, 2021, the Halo Infinite campaign will be available for download. It will be available for purchase on Steam, Windows 10, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X.
