Resident Evil 4 Remake Achieves Over 6M Sales, Setting Record as Series’ Fastest-Selling Game

Capcom has announced its latest fiscal results revealing that Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold over 6 million copies as of December 31, 2023.

This achievement confirms the game as one of the fastest-selling titles in the series, demonstrating its enduring popularity and successful revival. The remake, launched in March 2023, has captivated long-time fans and attracted new players, contributing significantly to Capcom’s financial success. The total sales were revealed to be 6.48 million units across all platforms.

In addition to the commercial success of Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom has gained critical acclaim on the global stage. Street Fighter 6 received the Best Fighting Game award at the Game Awards 2023.

Capcom’s strategic focus on new releases and catalog titles has paid off, with the announcement of Monster Hunter Wilds driving solid sales. Ongoing promotional efforts and free title updates for Resident Evil 4 Remake, particularly for PlayStation VR2, have played a vital role in sustaining interest and sales momentum for the game.

Capcom’s proactive promotional campaigns have been instrumental in increasing the recognition of its intellectual property and attracting new fans. This strategy primarily focuses on series title sales, including hits like Resident Evil 2, which has led to catalog title sales reaching 26.7 million units. This figure represents a significant increase from the 22 million units sold in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, contributing to an overall boost in sales.

Resident Evil 4 Remake was released on March 24, 2023, for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. It is the third remake in the series after the massive success of Resident Evil 2, and its follow-up Resident Evil 3. All of these games were remade with improved visuals, better gameplay, and content, and were released on all major platforms.
