PS5 Update 23.01-07.00.00.44 Released With Discord Voice Chat and More

Sony has released its latest system software update for PlayStation 5, which bumps the firmware version to 23.01-07.00.00.44. The update, which was previously available to select PS5 users as a Beta, introduces a range of new features that are designed to enhance users’ social and gaming experiences.

One of the most notable features of the new update is the integration of Discord voice chat, which allows PS5 users to easily communicate with their friends on other gaming platforms. To use this feature, users must link their Discord and PlayStation Network accounts, and then use the Discord app on their mobile device or computer to initiate a voice chat on their PS5 console.

Additionally, the update enables users to initiate or request a screen share directly from a friend’s profile by selecting the share screen icon on the profile. The new “Join Game” icon has also been added to party chats, allowing users to quickly and easily join games their friends are playing. The update also includes a new “Friends Who Play” tile that enables users to see which of their friends have a specific game, who is currently online, and who is currently playing the game.

Other new features include the ability to manually upload game captures to the PlayStation App, support for Variable Refresh Rate at 1440p, game library enhancements that enable users to sort and filter games, and the ability to transfer data from one PS5 console to another using a local Wi-Fi network or LAN cable.
