Metacore Games, a Helsinki-based mobile game developer, has announced its expansion to Berlin, marking the company’s first overseas location. This strategic move comes on the heels of a record-breaking year for Metacore, whose mystery puzzle game, Merge Mansion, recently surpassed 50 million downloads. The expansion is part of the company’s broader growth strategy, as it continues to scale both its team and revenue.
Metacore has experienced rapid growth in recent years, expanding its team from just 15 professionals to over 170 in a span of three years. The company generated EUR 129 million in revenue last year and is on track for continued strong performance this year. The success of Merge Mansion, a game that has captivated audiences worldwide with its intriguing characters and story, has been a significant contributor to Metacore’s growth.
Berlin was chosen for its reputation as a global hub for games, technology, and entertainment. Metacore’s CEO, Mika Tammenkoski, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating that Berlin is not only home to some of the world’s top gaming talent but also serves as a hotspot for creative industries. The company plans to contribute to and collaborate with Berlin’s vibrant ecosystem.
Initially, the Berlin office will serve as the home base for a newly established feature team dedicated to working on Merge Mansion. The game has gained considerable attention not just for its gameplay but also for its marketing campaigns, which have featured Hollywood talents like Kathy Bates and Pedro Pascal.
While the immediate focus is on Merge Mansion, Metacore has multiple games under development and is in the process of recruiting new talent. The company is currently hiring for various roles, including producers, game designers, and data analysts, for both their Helsinki and Berlin locations.
