Team Visai has announced the release of their debut title, Venba, a heartwarming cooking game that celebrates South Indian cuisine and culture. The game is now available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, PlayStation 5, and PC for $14.99 USD, with a 15% off launch discount available until August 14th. Venba is also available to Game Pass subscribers for Console and PC.
Abhi, Game Designer at Visai Studios, shared his excitement about the game’s release. “Venba started as a small side project that was compelling to make as I felt it had an untold story to share. Over the last 3 years, however, the response to Venba has been overwhelming. It has allowed us to transition from working weeknights and weekends to starting a studio full-time. Venba is a celebration of food, family, Tamil cuisine, music, and culture, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you!”
Venba is a short game, taking around one to two hours to complete. It tells the story of an Indian mother, Venba, who immigrates to Canada with her family in the 1980s. Players will cook various dishes and decipher long-lost family recipes. Through branching conversations, they will explore a story about family, love, and loss.
In the game, Venba’s recipe book gets damaged when she moves to Canada. Players will need to restore the lost recipes to cook delicious, mouth-watering dishes that serve as a connection to the home left behind. They will also get to know the family well, hold branching conversations, and explore as they face the challenges that arise from day-to-day life.
Key features of Venba include the ability to cook authentic and delicious recipes handpicked from regional Southern Indian Cuisine, hold branching conversations, and experience the journey of an immigrant family. The game also boasts beautiful 2D visuals and animations, along with a unique soundtrack inspired by Tamil movies and music.
