Starfield Receives M (Mature) Rating from ESRB Ahead of Release

Bethesda’s upcoming action role-playing game, Starfield, has been rated M (Mature) by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) in the United States due to its Violence, Blood, Suggestive Themes, Strong Language, and Use of Drugs. The game is set to be released on September 6th, 2023, for Windows and Xbox Series X/S platforms.

Starfield, developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, is the first new intellectual property from the company in over 25 years. The game takes place in a space-themed setting, known as The Settled Systems, which extends approximately 50 light-years from the Solar System. The game is set 20 years after the Colony War, a conflict between the United Colonies and Freestar Collective, with the major factions experiencing an uneasy peace.

Players will assume the role of a customizable character who is a member of Constellation, an organization of space explorers. The game can be played in either first- or third-person perspectives. As a part of Constellation, players will embark on an epic journey to answer humanity’s greatest mystery, exploring the vast expanse of the Settled Systems in Bethesda’s most ambitious game to date.

Starfield is scheduled to have a Showcase airing on June 11, before its exclusive release on Xbox and PC on September 6th, 2023.
