Sony has updated its official PC publisher status on Steam from PlayStation Mobile to PlayStation PC ahead of the release of God of War.
Almost all of their Steam titles, including Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, and God of War, was published by PlayStation Mobile. They may be changing it now, as evidenced by the Steam Database.
The new name, PlayStation PC, was registered in April of this year, according to Lashman’s Twitter account. This name’s revisions were discovered on Steam Database. They may be found on the Helldivers Steam page, which has been updated. This implies that they have huge ambitions to port their games to the PC. They have previously acquired Nixxes, a porting studio that has worked on numerous big PC ports, including the recent Marvel’s Avengers.
While the God of War adaptation is being worked on by a separate developer, Jetpack Interactive, Nixxes might be utilised for potential Steam ports of PlayStation games such as Horizon and the God of War sequel, should they make it to Steam.
I’m not sure why anyone would even buy a console at this point. A gaming PC is slightly more expensive, but if taken care of will last at least 2 to 3 console generations with maybe a graphics card update and the games are so much cheaper on Steam and GOG it’s ridiculous. The number one reason I hear is that “I just want to sit on my couch and play games”. Yeah, so go ahead. I’ve been doing that with my PC for over a decade and it would have been longer had I known I could do it. My PC is hooked up to my tv and I have a wireless mouse, keyboard and controller. Once Nintendo sees the light, aka the tons of money from PC sales, then there’s no need for these companies to waste the resources and time making consoles, especially with streaming about to kill most hardware needs anyway in a decade or two.
