Activision has released the day one patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 today which updates the game to version 1.04 on PS4 and PS5.
The download size of this patch on the Xbox One is almost 60 GB, which is the size for many of the current-generation games. It was released just ahead of the game launching on October 28. The game received multiple updates before it arrives on October 28 while the single-player campaign is already available as part of the early access launch available to those who have pre-ordered the game.
There have been reports suggesting that Modern Warfare 2 might not ship with the game on disc. This applies to the PS5 version but it could be the case for other consoles as well.
If we take a look at the day one patch size, it is possible that the disc having no data was intentional since the patch size is almost as large as a full game. It might vary depending on the region and platform as some players are reporting the size to be more than 60 GB, while others have suggested that it is less than 50 GB.
The patch notes for this update are not available officially, and the ones that can be accessed on the PS4 simply list the changes as “security and stability fixes.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a sequel to the 2019 reboot of the Modern Warfare series. It is being developed by Infinity Ward. The game also ships with Warzone 2.0, which will be available to everyone as a free-to-play game.
