Minecraft Set to Receive 4K Resolution Support on Xbox Series Consoles

The latest Minecraft update, Preview 1.20.60.23, comes with numerous new features and improvements, optimizing the game’s experience, specifically for Xbox Series console players. The update includes 4K resolution support for Xbox Series console users.

Other key highlights of the update include the addition of a new neutral mob known as Armadillo, which rolls into a ball when threatened, and players can obtain Armadillo Scutes from them. Using Armadillo Scutes, players can now craft Wolf Armor to protect their wolves, providing protection equivalent to Diamond Horse Armor.

Gameplay and Technical Enhancements include addressing various gameplay issues, fixing unintended fall damage and crashes, and other graphical improvements like breeze wind and wind charge rendering adjustments. A new command to hide and reset HUD elements has been added, enhancing gameplay customization, and Minecraft Realms has a new feature called Realms Stories, which acts as a social hub, enabling players to share gameplay moments and track the activity of other members.

Experimental Features include Armadillo Scutes, which can be obtained by brushing Armadillos or through natural drops. These new items can be crafted into Wolf Armor. Dispensers have been modified to interact with Armadillos, aiding in the efficient collection of Scutes.

Technical Updates include enhancements to the script engine and add-ons, aimed at boosting game performance and expanding creator capabilities. Several Molang queries have been moved out of the experimental phase, providing creators with more tools.

Minecraft is available to play on Xbox Series consoles but it never offered native 4K support. This preview update makes it the first time Mojang has added this feature, and it might be rolled out ot the public soon once the preview period ends.
