Hotline Miami 1 & 2 Trophies Appear for PS5, Hinting at Potential Re-release

Trophies for Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number have recently appeared on PS5, according to trophy tracking website Exophase. This development has led to speculation that the iconic top-down shooter games may be slated for a re-release on Sony’s latest console.

Hotline Miami is a top-down shooter originally launched by Dennaton Games and published by Devolver Digital in 2012. It is set in 1989 Miami and follows an unnamed protagonist, known as “Jacket” to the fans, who receives mysterious messages on his answering machine instructing him to carry out violent acts against the Russian mafia. The game was created as a spiritual successor to Super Carnage, a 2004 game that was canceled. It took only nine months to develop and was initially released on Windows on October 23, 2012, before being ported to other platforms like OS X, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 4.

A sequel, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, was released in March 2015. Both games were re-released as part of Hotline Miami: Collected Edition for PlayStation 4 in Japan in 2015 and as the Hotline Miami Collection for Nintendo Switch in August 2019.

There has been speculation that Hotline Miami and its sequel may be re-released on the PS5, as trophies for both games have been spotted on the platform. However, there has been no confirmation from Dennaton Games or Devolver Digital.
