Warner Bros. Games today unveiled Geras, the latest character to join the main roster of Mortal Kombat 1, the upcoming installment of the acclaimed video game franchise developed by the award-winning NetherRealm Studios.
Geras, an eternal being reconstructed by Fire God Liu Kang, was introduced in a new trailer titled “Keepers of Time”. The trailer offers a first look at Geras’s gameplay and story elements, revealing his unique ability to manipulate time. Geras can freeze, rewind, and replay time to his advantage, reflecting his unpredictable fighting style. His primary role is to protect Liu Kang’s vision, armed with the memories of countless timelines he has witnessed.
Mortal Kombat 1 is set to redefine the Mortal Kombat Universe with a new story and reimagined iconic heroes and villains. The game features a diverse cast of legendary fighters, each with new backstories. The roster includes Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, Kenshi, Smoke, Rain, Li Mei, Tanya, Baraka, and now, Geras. The game also introduces a separate roster of Kameo Fighters who can assist during matches.
The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on 19 September, 2023. The post-launch downloadable content (DLC) Kombat Pack, now available for pre-order as part of the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition and Kollector’s Edition, will feature playable fighters Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda, along with guest fighters Peacemaker, Omni-Man, and Homelander.
All pre-orders of Mortal Kombat 1 will include Shang Tsung as an in-game playable character. Additionally, those who pre-order the game for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will gain access to the Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Beta, which will run from 18-21 August.
