Today, KOEI TECMO Europe, developer Omega Force, and collaborators TYPE-MOON and Aniplex Inc., released the second trailer for their upcoming action RPG, Fate/Samurai Remnant. The trailer introduces new Servants joining the latest Holy Grail War set in Edo Period Japan. The game, currently under development for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and Windows PC via Steam®, is set to launch in Europe on 29th September 2023.
The Fate franchise, known for its epic battles between pairs of Masters and heroic spirits, or Servants, continues in Fate/Samurai Remnant. Players control young samurai Miyamoto Iori and his Servant Saber as they navigate the “Waxing Moon Ritual” and face off against seven pairs of Masters and Servants.
The new trailer introduces Archer and Assassin, Servants from other participating teams. Archer, a loyal and courageous Servant, respects his Master, Zheng Chenggong, and wields his bow and arrow freely in combat. Assassin, a phantom in grey, is said to manipulate snakes as his subordinates.
The game also features Rogue Servants, powerful warriors without Masters. If players form a bond with them, they can temporarily borrow their powers, and some will even accompany Iori into battle. Rogue Servants include Rogue Lancer, Rogue Archer, Rogue Rider, Rogue Saber, and Rogue Berserker.
Fate/Samurai Remnant introduces a new gameplay element, the “Spirit Font Conflict”, a competition for “spirit fonts” scattered across Edo. Players aim to acquire these spirit fonts, the enemy’s strongholds, by making a mutually determined number of moves on a grid map. Acquiring a spirit font boosts Iori’s abilities temporarily.
Iori can also learn new skills at his magecraft workshop in town. By strengthening the workshop, Iori can acquire skills such as the ability to have Rogue Servants accompany him in battle. A sword maintenance minigame in the workshop rewards samurai who take good care of their swords with bonus effects in battle.
Fate/Samurai Remnant is now available for pre-order in both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the base game, a digital artbook and soundtrack, the Fate/Samurai Remnant Season Pass, and the Season Pass Bonus item “Hallowed Relic Sword Mountings”. All players who digitally pre-order by 28th September 2023 will receive the “Phantasmal Dress ‘Miyamoto Musashi’” digital pre-order bonus. A special TREASURE BOX version is also available for pre-orders exclusively through the KOEI TECMO Europe Online Store.
