Epic Games Store Giveaway Offers Death Stranding Director’s Cut, Changes It To Base Edition Later

Epic Games Store is holding a 15 free games giveaway in celebration of the Holidays as well as the end of the year. Their latest offer was for Death Stranding, but it ended up as a mess.

They have been offering a free game every day beginning December 15. There have been some good games being offered for free like Sable and Metro: Last Light Redux, but their recent offering of Death Stranding has ended up being a little controversial.

When the game was offered for free today, it ended up as the Director’s Cut version of the game which includes some additional new content that was released as part of the PS5 release. This is also being offered as an upgrade on the Epic Games Store if you own the original game.

Fans were excited to see that instead of the base edition of the game, Epic Games Store was offering the Director’s Cut however this turned out to be a mistake from Epic Games. The Director’s Cut was quickly switched out and replaced with the base edition of the game which means if you are claiming this offer now, you will need to purchase the upgrade for Director’s Cut if you want to get all the new content offered by the game.

This is still not a bad deal as the Director’s Cut of Death Stranding didn’t really bring any new story content for the game. It was mainly hyped as an upgrade from the PS4 to the PS5 release of the game.

If you want the new content offered in the Director’s Cut, you can claim the base edition of the game for free and get the Director’s Cut upgrade which is available on sale on the Epic Games Store.

Death Stranding is also available to play on Xbox Game Pass for Windows PC.
