Larian Studios recently revealed some important details about Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox version. Cromwelp, the Director of Publishing at Larian Studios, took to Twitter to announce that the Xbox retail version of the game will come on three discs and include the significant Patch 5 on disc. “The Xbox retail version, which plays across 3 discs, will ship with Patch 5 on disc. Which is really good news. These things have lead times, as you know. Working on the exact version for PlayStation 5,” he stated.
Patch 5, which is being touted as a substantial update, is set to further improve the gameplay experience. Cromwelp’s earlier tweets shed light on the patch’s contents, promising to fix a critical bug causing slowdowns and improve overall game performance. “For now, we caught the nasty bug causing slowdowns and the good news is: it’s fixed in Patch 5! That, and so much more, is cooking for this week,” he tweeted. Furthermore, the patch addresses issues introduced in the previous update, enhancing Astarion’s character interactions and resolving in-game acts of theft and violence.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a masterpiece in the RPG genre, blending single-player and cooperative multiplayer elements. The game allows players to forge unique characters or select from pre-generated options, embarking on a journey filled with rich narrative and versatile quest systems. Its hallmark is the turn-based combat system, rooted in the 5th edition rules of Dungeons & Dragons. With 12 character classes and numerous subclasses, it offers a diverse range of combat strategies and character development.
Since its initial early access release in October 2020, and subsequent full release in August 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 has garnered immense acclaim and accolades, including the prestigious Golden Joystick Award for Game of the Year. Following the PlayStation 5 release in September 2023 and the macOS version later that month, the Xbox Series X/S version is next on the schedule. The release date is expected to be announced during The Game Awards 2023.
