Sony has announced a change in the PlayStation Plus lineup for its Essential subscribers in Japan. The game Tropico 5 will replace The Callisto Protocol in October. This change comes after The Callisto Protocol failed to pass Japan’s rating certification.
Earlier, Sony had unveiled the official PlayStation Plus games for October for subscribers in the United States and the EU. The original lineup included The Callisto Protocol, Farming Simulator 22, and Weird West. These titles will be available for download from Tuesday, October 3, until Monday, November 6.
The Callisto Protocol is a narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future. Players assume the role of Jacob Lee, an inmate in Black Iron Prison located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto. The game involves battling monstrous creatures and uncovering dark secrets while trying to escape the prison.
Farming Simulator 22 offers players the role of a modern farmer with a focus on agriculture, animal husbandry, and forestry. The game features more than 400 machines and tools from over 100 real agricultural brands. It also introduces new machine categories and crops, adding new gameplay mechanics.
Weird West is an isometric action RPG that takes players to a dark fantasy version of the Wild West. The game features a simulated sandbox world where characters and factions react to player decisions, leading to irreversible consequences.
PlayStation Plus members have until October 2 to add Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero to their game library.
As has happened before, it’s not uncommon for Japan to have a different lineup. Japanese gamers won’t be able to play The Callisto Protocol, but they can still relish the experience of leading a virtual island nation through Tropico 5.
