The Lost Woods in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be a daunting challenge for any player.
However, there is a new way to get through this area that wasn’t available before. Instead of trying to navigate the maze-like forest, you can now use the Ascend ability to come in from below. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to get through the Lost Woods and reach the Korok Forest.

Step 1: Gather Some Brightbloom Seeds
Before venturing into the Depths, we recommend that you gather some Brightbloom seeds. These seeds will light up your surroundings and make it easier to navigate through the area. You can find Brightbloom seeds in the Minshi Woods chasm located on the path to the Lost Woods at the coordinates (1063, 1655, 0167).
Step 2: Dive Into the Chasm
Once you have the Brightbloom seeds, it’s time to dive into the chasm. Before doing so, place a pin on the center of the Korok Forest to help guide you through the Depths. Once you’re in the chasm, start heading in the northwest direction towards the center of the Korok Forest. Use your Brightbloom seeds to light up your surroundings and avoid the gloom, an oil-like substance, on the floor.
Step 3: Follow the Ogre Trees
As you get closer to the center of the Korok Forest, you’ll start to see ogre trees. These are trees with faces on them, similar to the trees found in the Lost Woods. Climb to the top of the ogre tree to find a large poe, a ghastly tear drop, on top of the tree. Follow the direction of the large poes as they’ll guide you from treetop to treetop toward a lightroot in the distance.
Step 4: Glide to Non-Gloom Infested Land
Once you’ve reached the lightroot, jump off the ogre tree and glide to the non-gloom infested land in the distance. Continue heading towards the pin you placed in the center of the Korok Forest to find the Rikonasum Lightroot at the coordinates (0410, 2131, -0592) and a large stone platform beside it.
Step 5: Use Ascend
Stand on top of the mound on the stone platform and use Ascend to rise up into the Korok Forest. Congratulations, you’ve made it through the Depths and into the Korok Forest!
Step 6: Rid the Korok Forest of Gloom
Now that you’re in the Korok Forest, your next task is to rid the area of gloom. This won’t be easy, but we have faith in your abilities. Good luck!
