Dredge | Ending Guide | How To Get The Good & Bad Endings?

Dredge is an atmospheric indie game that takes players on a journey through a mysterious world beneath the sea.

As they traverse the depths, players will encounter various characters and must collect lost relics to progress through the game’s story. One of the key characters in Dredge is the Collector, a reclusive man living in a ruined mansion who sets the player on their quest for the lost relics. The Collector’s actions and motivations are central to the game’s plot, leading to two possible endings: a bad one and a secret, good one. In this guide, we’ll explore the steps required to achieve both endings, as well as delve into the game’s lore and the significance of the Collector in the game’s story. So, if you’re ready to dive into the depths of Dredge, let’s get started.

Dredge – Endings Guide:

Here’s how to unlock all the endings in  Dredge:

To obtain the “bad” ending, the player must collect all five lost relics and return them to the Collector. Once the player has delivered all the relics to the Collector, he will give them the option to move forward to the end of the game. If the player chooses to move forward, the Collector will mark a location on the map, and the player must steer their ship to the location and interact with the pillar of light that appears.

To achieve the “good” ending, the player must also collect all five lost relics, but instead of bringing the last one to the Collector, they must keep it and take the red book from him. The player will then sail to an unnamed island near Devil’s Spine, where they will find the old mayor of The Marrows, who will reveal the truth of the matter and direct the player to the Lighthouse Keeper. The player will then return to Greater Marrow, where the Lighthouse Keeper will reveal the secrets of the Collector and the book. The player will then return to the Collector and get the book from him, and when they get to the Step Closer prompt, they will press that and then take the book. The player will then return to the Lighthouse Keeper, who will guide them to a different spot, G8, on the map, where the lighthouse is illuminating the area.

In the “bad” ending, the Collector and the fisherman use the relics to bring the fisherman’s dead wife back to life. This sort of happens, but a horrible monster is also revived, probably the Collector’s actual goal. The surrounding islands go up in flames, and everyone dies, which is essentially the end of the world.

In the “good” ending, the player throws the book back when prompted, and they and the book get chomped up by a big sea monster. The game starts with the fisherman winding up at Greater Marrow with no memory because his memory was wiped, perhaps by the power of the book. The events that led up to that moment are what the player uncovers throughout the game. The fisherman and his wife were sailing the seas together and found the red book, and a monster attacked the boat when they found it. The book created the Collector to point the fisherman towards the relics and unlock the evil powers of the ocean, which was a huge monster that sets flames upon the area. The Collector is a reflection of the fisherman himself, and in the “bad” ending, the woman floating above the sea is his wife, brought back to life with the sea monster. The player realizes this in the “good” ending and understands the power of the book, which is why they throw it back.

So, Dredge has two endings, a “bad” ending, and a “good” ending, and each ending is achieved by making different choices in the game. The player must collect all five lost relics to achieve both endings, but the path to the “good” ending is more complicated and requires the player to interact with various characters to uncover the truth behind the Collector and the book.
